TMA offers assistance to physicians and their families.

THE PHYSICIANS BENEVOLENT FUND

For more than 40 years, The Physicians Benevolent Fund has helped medical family members in need.  The late May Owen, MD a Fort Worth pathologist and past TMA president, established the fund in 1961 with a $2,500 donation to assist destitute doctors and their families.

HURRICANE IKE DISASTER RELIEF PROGRAM OF THE PHYSICIANS BENEVOLENT FUND

The purpose of the PBF Disaster Relief Program is to reestablish the delivery of medical care to areas of Texas declared "federally designated disaster areas".  Based upon the availability of funding, PBF grants physicians who are victims of such disaster with financial assistance to help restore their medical practice.

PBF AND THE TEXAS MEDICAL ASSOCIATION ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS TO ASSIST PRACTICES AFFECTED BY HURRICANE IKE.
